Andrew McConnell, Area Sales Manager for Harlands commented “We are very pleased with the high quality of the labels and are proud to be supporting a company which does so much good for organic farming and the environment.”
The management and distribution of the jars of honey is undertaken by Crabtree & Evelyn, who are one of Duchy Originals’ main suppliers. The honey is gathered from hives within the Balmoral Estate in Scotland and it is the nectar from the heather which gives the honey its distinctive taste and dark colour. The honey is prepared and filled into jars in Scotland before shipping to Crabtree and Evelyn’s Somerset site for distribution to customers. The proceeds from Duchy Originals products go to the Prince of Wales Charitable Foundation, which supports organic farming and sustainable production principles. Toni Reed, Business Development Manager for Crabtree & Evelyn said “Harlands have produced a high quality label which compliments the product perfectly and maintains the high standard both we and Duchy Originals require for our products.”

Harlands make royal connections
Harlands Labels have teamed up with Duchy Originals and Crabtree & Evelyn to create a new label for a Duchy Selection’s Heather Honey.
The labels, which feature on the miniature 42g jars of honey, meant an intricate production job for Harlands. Duchy Originals pride themselves on their high quality products, and so the consistency of the cream and gold on the label was very important to them. The label has a 4 colour set illustration of heather and comprises in total 7 colours plus varnish. The labels also have a tamper evidence strap which attaches to the lid of the jar with the gold and black Duchy crest. Due to the unusual shape of the labels, the decision was taken for them to be applied to the jars by hand, and so Harlands used a special adhesive which left “open time” so the labels could be peeled off and re-applied to ensure they were straight.
